About Us
Bomb City Squadron - CAF Amarillo Chapter
Welcome to the Bomb City Squadron

The Bomb City Squadron is the Amarillo-area chapter of the Commemorative Air Force, a volunteer-driven organization dedicated to preserving and flying the aircraft that helped shape our nation's history.
Based in Amarillo, Texas, our members share a passion for aviation, history, education, and honoring the men and women who served during World War II and other conflicts. Through community events, fly-ins, educational programs, aircraft displays, and living history experiences, we work to keep the legacy of military aviation alive for future generations.
Our Mission
The mission of the Commemorative Air Force is simple:
Educate. Inspire. Honor.
We accomplish this by preserving historic aircraft in flying condition, sharing the stories of America's Greatest Generation, and providing opportunities for people of all ages to experience aviation history firsthand.
What We Do
The Bomb City Squadron actively participates in:
-
Aviation and community events throughout the Texas Panhandle
-

Our squadron includes veterans, pilots, mechanics, educators, historians, photographers, and community members who simply enjoy being around airplanes and preserving history. Whether you want to volunteer at events, help maintain aircraft, support educational programs, or just meet like-minded people, there's a place for you in the Bomb City Squadron.
Why "Bomb City"?
Amarillo earned the nickname "Bomb City" because of its long-standing connection to the nation's defense industry and military heritage. Our squadron proudly embraces that history while honoring the aviation pioneers, veterans, and aircraft that helped defend freedom around the world.
